Important: Due to our current situation with COVID-19, FIU has proceeded to remain strictly online for the duration of the summer term. As a result, we will be conducting the 2020 RET program remotely.
A typical day begins at 8:00AM and runs through 4:30PM, with morning classes in research methodology, Python programming, HTML, etc., followed by a quick lunch, then research time in the afternoons where you will be working on your selected research project either alongside the Faculty and graduate student researchers or independently depending on research requirements/assignments. You will be interacting with our faculty, mentors and graduate students on a daily basis to conduct cutting-edge research. Friday afternoons may require a longer period of time, usually 8:00AM through 5:30 to 6:00PM as we meet in the afternoons to discuss the results of your weekly research efforts together with all of our participating faculty, graduate students, mentors and undergraduate researchers in an open research forum. This exposes everyone to a wide variety of research projects enhancing your knowledge and experience, and helping everyone to better understand common research challenges.
Although not required, most of our RET participants find their topics so engaging they will also be reading and researching background on their projects in their spare time in the evenings.
We are now accepting applications for the RET 2020 program. Applications may be considered in order of the date they are received until positions are filled.
Note: This is an intensive research program for teachers. Vacation/leave time will not be granted during this program.
